Hiyeeee! Welcome to my website! My name is Matheus Barbee, and I am an actor and singer based in Chicago. I was born and raised in High Point, North Carolina, before I moved to the midwest to study acting and musical theatre at Northwestern University.

I started performing at six years old in PBS Kids’ Raggs, and have continued to find joy and storytelling on the stage and screen ever since. As a queer black boy from the South, I’ve spent my life seeking ways to stand in my truth and helping others to do the same. As such, I love to activate the characters that I play by identifying and enlivening that pursuit in their own lives. We are all on that quest every day, so I am grateful to bring those journeys to life on stage. And I’m a double Scorpio, so every emotion is in high-gear!

Some of my other loves include: pop divas (Ariana, Beyoncé, Gaga, to name a few), folk stars (Joni, Joan, Lizzy McAlpine, to name some more), too much iced coffee, hours by the ocean, camping with my family, a Youtube documentary, having a Pokémon battle, RuPaul’s Drag Race, a basket of french fries, playing a board game that lasts too long, and of course, my amazing friends (or as I call them, my sisterrrrrs).
